If you spend much time on the internet, you’ve probably seen Korean rapper-singer Psy’s viral music video Gangnam Style, along with about 115 million other people. The hilarious video has pushed Psy onto the international stage and his viral success has led to a recent performance at MTV’s VMAs and a record seal with music exec Scooter Braun, who’s considered by some the man who made Justin Bieber. Under Braun’s label School Boy Records, Psy might just be the first k-pop star to have a major hit record in the U.S., as he has already has “crossed over” with his irreverent electro-pop anthem and its now iconic trot-like dance.
But with all of Gangnam Style‘s popularity, we’re sure many people are asking what exactly is Gangnam style? Well, here’s a graphic that shows what a stylin’ day in Gangnam might be like. Gangnam is one of Seoul’s wealthiest neighborhoods and known for its luxury boutiques, high-end auto dealers, and posh nightlife. That said, you don’t have to be a millionaire (or have a hit YouTube video) to enjoy yourself in Gangnam. Sometimes, a little taste of luxury is enough.
